Dr. Beth Bee Receives Dean’s Early Career Award

The Department of Geography, Planning and Environment would like to acknowledge Dr. Beth Bee for being this year’s recipient of the Thomas Harriott College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Early Career Award. This recognition is well deserved as Dr. Bee has made significant contributions in all of the three workload areas during her time at ECU. A nominator wrote about Dr. Bee having “…an exceptional record of research and teaching, one that I strongly believe will continue to burgeon in the near future”.

Dean Danell provided the following details in her letter as to reasons for Dr. Bee being selected as this year’s recipient:

I appreciate your dedication to teaching and mentoring, and it is clear your service to the department and university is of high quality. I was especially impressed with the cross-cutting nature of your scholarly work, tackling gender and social issues and how they influence policy decisions of great global and environmental importance. Such interdisciplinary and culturally aware research is truly admirable.

This is a great honor and the faculty, students and staff are proud of her efforts.
