Dr. Levine Selected to the 2024-2025 EOSA Cohort

Dr. Kaylyn Levine was selected to the 2024-2025 Engagement and Outreach Scholars Academy (EOSA) cohort and will conduct community-based participatory research (CBPR) with Pitt County Economic Development on access to employment in rural Pitt County. The EOSA award provides funding to conduct research activities, support graduate student assistants, and the opportunity to work with undergraduate students from the ECU Honors program. 

Using CBPR, Dr. Levine aims to partner and collaborate with Kelly Andrews at Pitt County Economic Development, undergraduate and graduate ECU students, and community stakeholders to identify and address transportation insecurities in rural, northern Pitt County. The community will play a primary role in defining research questions, conducting the research, and sharing results. The goals of this work are to build rapport with the communities in northern, rural Pitt County, to validate local knowledge, to define problems together, and to jointly plan solutions to address access to jobs. The research design will include planning charettes, summarizing evidence to local and regional transportation agencies, and planning a micro transit pilot program.
