With a degree in one of the fields of geography, you will be competitive in careers that include education, public administration, legal services, social justice, geographic information science and technology, atmospheric science, meteorology, and urban and regional planning, among others. You may take advantage of the ties our department faculty have with national research laboratories, private consulting firms, and NGOs working in developing counties to start dynamic careers in geography-related fields.
Salary Trends
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics the median salary for Geographers in the U.S. in 2020 was $85,430 per year with a bachelors degree. But geography is a diverse discipline and majors find themselves in a range of careers. The median annual wage for atmospheric scientists, including meteorologists was $99,740 in 2020.
